Michaeliskirche
Nickname: Michel
St. Michael’s Church, also known as ‘Michel’ for short, is one of Hamburg’s landmarks with its striking architecture.
The church tower is 132 metres high. At 106 metres, there is a viewing platform with a wonderful panoramic view of the harbour and the city. The platform can be reached via 452 steps or by lift.
The Michel’s tower clock is the largest church clock in Germany. The large hand is 4.95 metres long, while the small hand measures 3.65 metres. The clock face has a diameter of 8 metres.
The magnificent interior of Hamburg’s main Protestant church, decorated in white and gold, is also well worth a visit.
